Unreleased Deerhunter Album

If the Atlas Sound remix of Arthur Russell's "Answers Me" isn't filling all your Bradford Cox needs this week, we have good news! Over the weekend Cox posted an unreleased, experimental Deerhunter recording from 2005 on his blog. The CD-R entitled "Carve Your Initials Into the Walls of the Night" was recorded by Cox and Moses Archuleta on a 2-Track cassette recorder during what Cox describes as the band's "tape phase".

You can check out the rest of what Bradford has to say about it and download the entire recording here. Check out a couple of the tracks I liked best after a listen or two below!

More Gay Dreams

Sometimes gay dudes like to sleep a lot. OK, that's mostly just me, and it's usually unintentional how long I sleep. Like today, I had a full day planned but of course my stupid ass just slept the whole thing through because I'm fucking stupid. But you know, sometimes you just need to do that. That's usually when the best dreams happen and you can actually REMEMBER them (fyi: I never remember my dreams usually. Todays dream: My roommate took in a stray dog that peed all over everything).

The masterpiece as of late used for the soundtrack for sleep has been Jonsi & Alex and their gay instrumentals. As you know from prior posts, Jonsi is from sleepcore, shoegazer, faggy bedtime jammers Sigur Ros. Alex is his boyfriend who also makes music and other art. "Riceboy Sleeps" has been an unexpected treasure for this disGUSTing winter season so far. And now we've been informed that Jonsi is releasing a proper solo outing due in March 2010 via XL Recordings.

"Boy Lilikoi" is the name of the leaked song, and I love it. It's the perfect blend of Sigur Ros and not Sigur Ros. There are elements of folk, electronica, and Dntel that make my gay sleeper brain go completely mental. I love bedtime jams and this one is the definite best of 2009 thus far. I've also been spelling "definite" as "definate" for the past goddamn year and not ONE OF YOU TOLD ME I WAS SPELLING IT WRONG.

BEDTIMES JAMZZZZ:

Jonsi - Boy Lilikoi

Rose Elinor Dougall - Start/Stop/Synchro (Demo)

The Honeydrips - Fall From A Height

Yoko Ono - Revelations (ft. Cat Power)

Go Bang: A Tribute to Arthur Russell

Disco, Post-Disco, Avant Garde, Experimental or whatever you wanna call him Arthur Russell, 17 years after his death, seems just as relevant and influential as ever. With a 2008 documentary on his life and music called Wild Combination, a biography by Tim Lawrence and the recently released "Go Bang: A Tribute to Arthur Russell" (from the UK's Electric Minds label) it seems he is having a better late '00's than a lot of living artists. I think Russell's music still resonates with people because, as simple as it sounds, he just did whatever he wanted and created music for himself first. He weaved all sorts of different genres and ideas together to create something absolutely unique and personal.

As far as this latest tribute album, I feel like it really doesn't do Russell's songs justice for the most part. Yam Who? & Shovel's version of "Pop Your Funk" has a kind of 80's electro vibe that makes it a stand out and My Tiger My Timing's take on "Arm Around You" has a cute, 90's feeling that lets the sweetness of Russell's lyrics really come through. Otherwise, I'm not impressed and would rather just listen to the original versions.

Here's the My Tiger My Timing track, the Atlas Sound remix of "Answers Me" and the original version of "Wax The Van".

New NGUZUNGUZU Mix

We first became familiar with L.A.'s dj duo NGUZUNGUZU from their weekly queerish party/ freakout Wildness, but they are quickly becoming some of the hottest DJs and producers around. Kristen Stewart Dyke Watch pt III

Oh girl.

I couldn't even be bothered to make a post when you said "i love girls who are in love with me" To be honest, I felt a little baited. Are you mocking me, Kris? Proving me right? Love the gentle abuse?
Either way, the interview that appeared on "It's on with Alexa Chung" (I'm too old to know what this is, I think it's like TRL?, but I digress) is chock full of lezzie goodness, and you know just how to serve it. Dissection under the cut.

Let's examine:

Kristen Stewart says that when she was filming New Moon, she was listening to Joy Divison and Sia to keep her in mind set in the dark mood.

That's right, OUR Sia. JD Samson's adorable gf (and apparently she's super famous abroad). (as an aside, at the gossip/men show in October, I heard some annoying, know-nothing, 'i do whatever fashion magazines tell me to do' gay dude say "Oh, that's JT SomeSome. He's DJing at Berlin later". as well as the yuppies complaining that they didn't get the bikini kill reference. that show bummed me out!) Sia was so excited about this she posted it on her twitter.

She then mentions going parasailing with her "friend" Nikki Reed... who somehow manages to pee on her??

While watersports (meaning sports on the water, as well as peeing on your girl because you're freaky like that) aren't exclusively lesbian, managing to do BOTH at the same time gets you some MAJOR lezzie points. Maybe you two should teach a class at GoodVibes?

And then, for the goal, she is asked about her preference.... between vampires and wolves. This is a pretty obviously leading question. Vampires are so straight it's not even funny, and any pop-culture link between vampires and lesbians is just a heteronormative fantasy (see: Lesbian Vampire Killers). Straight men love the idea of lesbian vampires. Remember that Vampire sub-plot on the L word? That was the season when Showtime realized it had a show that was 90% women having sex, and they should be appealing to the real viewers, straight men.

Wolves, however? GAY. gay gay gay. What lesbian is complete without a wolf tattoo? Remember that huge "scandal" when those awesome dykes wrecked that one guy for fucking with them? They called them the Lesbian Wolf Pack". It's important to remember that wolves are pack animals. They raise their young in groups... not unlike those amazing separatist communes on the 70's (Do these still exist? Do you live in one? Can I move in with you?)

Check out the lez-fest here: (it starts at around 4:00)

and, as always, no celebrities were harmed or outed in the writing of this article. we love you girl, come to the dark side! We've got plenty of dream catchers!

Trick or Treat

Peaches really is making a video for every song on 'I Feel Cream' right? That's what's happening, it's not just my imagination.

Anyways, this one came out a week or so ago. The video isn't anything to write home about, but as I've said in all of these posts about Peaches, I like the new(ish) album and am glad Peaches is back on track.

Check out the video, Peaches cover of Electric 6's Gay Bar, and the Blogula remix of I Feel Cream!

Rap Bitches

Gay dudes LOVE rap bitches. We love how they're all hardcore, tuff street bitches but they still know how to turn the charm on to get a man (really, it's the other way around cause rap bitches don't do shit all the menz flock to them). You know, FOR A FACT, any of these women can fuck a dude up with a stiletto or whatever else is in their purse. They can turn a tube of mascara into an ak-47 for all we know and they aren't afraid to fight (Mimi Plastique, take note: RAP CAREER).

Of course, we've all had a few dozen missteps, what with that dumb girl from BLAQUE, Khia (really, it's just her beats that are terrible), Nicky Minaj, and god knows who else. I can do without them. The REAL bitches have already gone to jail, fucked up nail salons in every NYC borough, lied to the court system, and at some point stripped for a living. The holy trinity of bitches: Foxy Brown, Trina, and Lil' Kim (I got beef with the bitch but she's a hardcore bitch so I'll set shit aside).

These 3 ladies have made names for themselves simply by being the BADDEST, NASTIEST, MOST VIOLENT BITCHES. And for that, gay men around the world have fallen in love with them, memorized their raps, attempted to cop their style, and influenced them to become a rap bitch themselves. Of course they aren't like, rap bitch bitches, but I guess we can just call them bitchy boys? That doesn't sound right cause 90% of us are already bitchy boys. If anyone can think up a nice title for gay rappers, that would be nice cause I'm sure being constantly referred to as a gay rapper gets plain annoying. AND THAT'S WHEN A RAP BITCH BUSTS OUT THE MACE. Holler.

RAP BITCH MANIFESTO
(aka Sommore intro from Trina's "Diamond Princess")

Foxy Brown - 730

Lil' Kim - How Many Licks (ft. Sisqo)
HELP: WTF happened to that fruit loop Sisqo anyways?

Trina - Hustling

BONUS TRACK:

Shawnna - Gettin' Some Head

Also, this is possibly the FILTHIEST thing I've ever heard.

AND I KNEW once Lady Gaga ditched fucking RED ONE (someone please destroy that annoying synth he uses) and hopped on the train to bitch city, I'd be okay with her. BUT ONLY AS A HOOK SINGER. WTF SHADY CACA, fuck you, GET OFF MY TRINA TRACK!!!
